Jonathan’s surprise wedding proposal

Aside from your wedding day, one of the greatest memories you will have is when you and your significant other decide to spend the rest of your lives together. Capturing that moment can be really special and why not make it really memorable by planning a surprise marriage proposal?

When Jonathan called me to ask if I could help him plan his surprise proposal to his soon to be fiance Cristy he was so excited, I was excited to be a part of it. We talked on the phone several times before deciding on Toledo Botanical Gardens for the setting. I was very impressed with how romantic Jonathan was in the detailed planning of this big day. It was Cristy’s birthday so they spent the day together shopping for her gift and getting her nails done. The plan was for a nice dinner with close family at a restaurant but Jonathan suggested that they take a walk through Toledo Botanical Gardens before dinner.

Jonathan and Cristy are both school teachers so books are a big part of their lives. Jonathan secured the Harry Potter book “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”, cut out the pages to review the chapter entitled “The Unbreakable Vow” and placed on the page a locket with the words “Will you marry me” written in it. My job was to place the book on the garden bench and then to hide behind the garden wall and wait for Jonathan’s phone call to let me know they were coming my way.

Cristy was truly surprised and overwhelmed with how romantic it all was and I think Jonathan felt like quite the hero.

We followed up the surprise with an engagement photo session. Congrats Jonathan and Cristy!! You make a great couple!
